BRABUS offers the world's most extensive engine tuning program for Mercedes-Benz automobiles which is also available for the new W 221 series. The lineup starts with the BRABUS PowerXtra D6 (III) performance kit for the S 320 CDI, which boosts power output of the V6 common-rail turbodiesel engine by 48 hp / 35.3 kW to 272 hp / 200 kW and increases peak torque to 590 Nm. For the S 350 BRABUS offers the B7 performance kit for an additional 15 hp / 11 kW or the BRABUS 4.0 displacement engine. With it the V6 gasoline engine delivers a maximum power output of 332 hp / 244 kW. Peak torque grows to 420 Nm at 4,200 rpm. A displacement increase to 6.1 liters is currently under development for the eight-cylinder engine of the S 500. It will be available shortly. The twelve-cylinder engine of the top-of-the-line S 600 model can be upgraded in BRABUS four stages. The list starts with the BRABUS T12 performance kit, which increases power output of the 5.5-liter three-valve engine from standard 517 hp / 380 kW to 580 hp / 419 kW and peak torque to 900 Nm. The pinnacle of BRABUS engine tuning is the BRABUS S V12 S Biturbo engine. Displacement of this engine is increased to 6,233 cc with the help of a special crankshaft, larger cylinder bore and forged pistons. The inner workings of the engine are further modified substantially: Among those measures is the optimization of the gas flow in intake and outlet manifolds of both cylinder heads and the installation of custom sport camshafts. The BRABUS engine specialists further fit the engine with specially developed larger turbochargers, more efficient intercoolers and a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with four pipes and high-flow metal catalysts. Newly programmed engine electronics ensure the optimal interaction of all components for maximum power yield and for meeting all current emission limits. The BRABUS S V12 S Biturbo engine develops 730 hp / 537 kW at 5,100 rpm. The peak torque of 1,320 Nm is limited electronically to 1,100 Nm and is available from a low 2,100 rpm. Without sacrificing smoothness it transforms the luxury sedan into a serious challenger for the world's fastest sports cars: 0 – 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, 200 km/h after just 11.9 seconds and a top speed of electronically limited 340 km/h make the sedan with BRABUS S V12 S Biturbo displacement engine a unique driving experience. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a modified five-speed automatic transmission. The optionally available BRABUS locking differential optimizes traction. All BRABUS drivetrain components are operated with ARAL high-performance lubricants. BRABUS sport exhaust systems and sport rear mufflers are available for all engine variants. The BRABUS designers further developed a sporty yet elegant aerodynamics package for the new S-Class. The BRABUS carbon front spoiler lends the luxury sedan a more characteristic face and reduces aerodynamic lift at high speeds. In addition the front can be further upgraded with custom-tailored auxiliary headlight inserts for two fog lamps and two high beams. The BRABUS side sills and rear apron with integrated LED lights are as attractive as they are useful. Upon activation by remote control or by pulling on an inside door handle five lights on either side and in the rear of the car illuminate the ground, making entering and exiting the vehicle or loading and unloading the trunk in the dark safer. The BRABUS rear apron further features custom-tailored cutouts for the BRABUS sport exhaust system with four tailpipes. The exclusive BRABUS look for the new Mercedes S-Class is rounded out with one-piece or multi-piece BRABUS Monoblock light-alloy wheels with 17-, 18-, 19-, 20- or even 21-inch diameters. The largest tire/wheel combination features forged multi-piece highly polished BRABUS Monoblock VI wheels in size 9Jx21 on the front axle and size 10.5Jx21 in the rear. These wheels are fitted with Pirelli or Yokohama tires in size 255/30 ZR 21 in front and in size 285/30 ZR 21 on the rear axle. Specifically matched to these sporty tire/wheel combinations are the BRABUS suspension modules, which are available for vehicles with air or ABC suspension. They give the S-Class a somewhat sportier yet comfortable ride and lower the ride height by some 25 millimeter. BRABUS also offers three different versions of its high-performance brake system for the new top-of-the-line Mercedes model. The largest version features 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 380 x 36-millimeter vented and perforated discs on the front axle. The rear axle features 355 x 28-millimeter discs and six-piston aluminum fixed calipers. Special flex-steel brake lines ensure constantly high brake pressure. Unadulterated luxury and individuality in the interior is another BRABUS specialty. The range of products for the new S-Class includes door sills with BRABUS logo, ergonomically shaped safety steering wheels with airbag and even an exclusive BRABUS interior crafted from especially soft yet durable BRABUS Mastik leather and from the finest Alcantara. The 340-km/h high- performance automobile is based on the new Mercedes S 600 and is powered by a BRABUS S V12 S Biturbo twelve-cylinder engine with 730 hp / 537 kW and a peak torque of 1,320 Nm. The BRABUS S V12 S Biturbo engine is a prime example for the old adage that nothing can replace displacement except more displacement. A special crankshaft with longer stroke, forged pistons with a larger diameter and an increased cylinder bore result in a displacement increase from standard 5.5 to now 6.3 liters. In addition the inlet and outlet ports of both cylinder heads are optimized for improved mixture flow. Four special camshafts also contribute to that same effect. The BRABUS engine specialists further equip the engine with larger turbochargers, a more efficient intercooling system and a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with four pipes and metal catalysts with low back pressure. Newly programmed engine electronics ensure that all new components work together flawlessly. They also contribute to maximum power yield and to meeting current exhaust emission limits. With 730 hp / 537 kW at 5,100 rpm the BRABUS S V12 S Biturbo engine delivers superlative power. The same is true for its peak torque of 1,320 Nm at 2,100 rpm. In the car peak torque is limited electronically to 1,100 Nm. This extraordinary performance makes the BRABUS S V12 S Biturbo into not just the most powerful but also the fastest luxury sedan in the world: 0 – 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, 200 km/h after just 11.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 340 km/h. For optimizing the airflow around the sides of the vehicle the designers shaped the BRABUS side sills that feature integrated entrance lights for added utility. A top-class model that is superior to its predecessor in all respects and, thanks to improved safety features and supreme ride comfort, sets new standards in the luxury car segment. With a sure touch, Carlsson, the renowned tuning company from Merzig in Southwest Germany, has discreetly customised the new S Class and given it a convincing power boost. Now, the CK 50 based on the S 500 can be seen for the first time at the Motor Show in Essen. In a class of its own: Carlsson CK50 engine kit The CK50 engine kit developed by Carlsson especially for the S 500 boosts not only the driver's pulse but also the elegant saloon as it powers its way effortlessly from 0-100 km/h in just 5.1. The result of Carlsson's work is a mighty 435 bhp/316kW (standard: 388 bhp/285 kW) at 6000 rpm. The pulling power of the tuned V8 is also up with torque measuring 600 Nm between 2800-4800 rpm. Top speed as tested by Carlsson is 293 km/h. Stainless-steel rear silencers each with twin oval tail pipes Fitting the Carlsson sports exhaust system with four metal catalytic converters, middle silencer and rear silencer contributes to greater dynamism in terms of both sound and performance. The rear view of the CK50 is dominated by the Carlsson sports rear silencers with four tail pipes, which impress not only through a sonorous and muscular sound but also, thanks to an improvement over the standard system in terms of exhaust back pressure and pipe routing, through greater low-end torque. A first-class appearance: 3/11 Ultra Light series wheels The new Carlsson 3/11 Ultra Light wheel design was shown for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). The forged, 3-part, 11-spoke wheel has been designed especially with larger vehicles in mind. Forged wheels of the Ultra Light series are significantly lighter than conventional cast wheels offering the same degree of strength. A comparable cast standard wheel is around 50 % heavier than a Carlsson forged wheel. Due to their lower weight, they tend to tramp less (lower unsprung weight) and thus ensure optimum road contact. For the driver, this means improved handling and greater ride comfort. At the Essen Motor Show, the new 11-spoke wheel can be seen in the dimensions 9x21" (front axle) Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 255/30 ZR 21 tyres and 10x21" (rear axle) with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 285/30 ZR21 tyres. Not only athletic and powerful looking but also extremely elegant, the wheels perfectly match the lines of the new S Class and emphasise the innovative character of this luxury car. Aerodynamics by Carlsson: the unity of elegance and power Is it possible to improve on pure luxury? Probably not. Nevertheless, discreet and effective components cleverly round off the appearance of the new S Class and give it a sporting touch. The front spoiler and rear-apron lip are distinguished by the typical Carlsson diffuser look and improve the handling of the 1985 kg luxury liner at high speed. Better driving characteristics always have a positive impact on vehicle safety and, therefore, driver and passenger safety. An advantage that Mercedes-Benz drivers in particular have appreciated for years. Intelligent lowering: Carlsson C-Tronic® SUSPENSION The CK50 has been lowered using the new C-Tronic® SUSPENSION supplementary control unit. Besides giving it a more dynamic air, lowering the car by approx. 30 mm reduces roll and thus results in even more precise handling. Exclusivity for the interior too Only the very best materials have been used for the interior appointments of the CK50. A combination of Alcantara and leather in two different shades of grey make the passenger compartment an inviting and pleasant place to be, even on very long journeys. The attractive rhombus quilting on the leather of the middle part of the door harmonises perfectly with the high expectations of the S Class driver: extremely attractive but restrained. The redesigned exterior transforms the S-Class from an understated luxury cruiser into a forceful looking sports saloon. The deep front spoiler features a big mouth split into two sections with integrated fog lights on each side - absolutely KLEEMANN. The rear skirt with its built in diffuser panel, and trapezoid rear mufflers is another recognizable KLEEMANN characteristic. Wide side skirts complete the stylish design and the S-Class has got a sporty, ground hugging appearance emphasized by the EBL Module lowering the body up to 35 mm. Power to match the looks - Brand new V8-Kompressor under development. To match the muscular and sporty looks of the car, a new engine modification package has been developed: A reprogramming of the ECU, high-flow air filters, tubular exhaust headers and a complete exhaust system increases power output by 40 Hp and 40 Nm. For both the V6-powered S350 and the V8-powered S500 an all new Kompressor System is under development, and will be introduced to the market in Q1 2006. Enhanced grip - Superb brakes Fitted with the largest KB8 High Performance Brake system, the S50 features 380 x 34 mm vented and cross-drilled two-piece brake discs with eight piston forged calipers on the front axle. Rear brakes are 345 x 32 mm vented and cross-drilled two-piece brake discs with four piston forged calipers. All KLEEMANN brake systems come with separate left and right discs. The massive brake callipers of the KB8 system are fitted behind the well known TS-6 alloys. Tires in sizes 285/30-ZR20 and 265/35-ZR20 ensure outstanding grip, and when fitted with the KLEEMANN LSD on the rear differential, optimum traction can be maintained even while cornering at high speeds.
